Welcome and our five year celebration

Idle Women celebrated our five year anniversary this September.

Imagined in 2015 as a stand alone project to build and tour a narrow boat with women we look back and feel slightly shaken by all that we have become, achieved and still have to do, that's because we are and always have been bigger than the sum of our parts. Idle Women, founded as a bold act of love and rebellion has drawn many women along the journey to create spaces to belong and it's still growing.

To celebrate 5 years we are publishing a graphic novel which has taken almost as long to realise. Written and illustrated by Candice Purwin, meticulously produced and edited by Janette Scott, and designed by O-SB Design.

Part manifesto, part social history and part travelogue in the form of a graphic novel, Idle Women On the Water tells the story of our mission to make space for women on the canals and tow paths of North West England from 2016-2017.

This shop is new for us, we set it up so that women can easily access the new novel and some of the other lovely products that have been made through collaborations with artists or given to us by artists who want to support our fundraising.

Welcome and we hope you enjoy what you find.
